The approved 2012 Capital Budget
includes $170,000 for the design and construction of a
sidewalk on the east side of Stittsville Main Street between
Fernbank Road and Brigade Ave, under the 2012 Pedestrian
Facilities Program. This final segment will complete the
missing gaps of sidewalk along Stittsville Main Street in
the south end of Stittsville which, in conjunction with the
developer-built sidewalks, will effectively create a full
pedestrian connection from the Traditions and Upcountry
communities to the Stittsville town center along both sides
of Stittsville Main Street.
Thanks to our Roads Maintenance
Department!
With the unpredictable winter weather
that Ottawa has been experiencing, including freezing rain,
I would like to take this moment to thank our City staff and
crews responsible for the clean-up that makes our roads
safer for your travels. My sincere thanks are extended to
you for your patience and understanding while the crews are
performing their tasks. I would also like to acknowledge and
thank John Manconi ,General Manager of Public Works, and Dan
O’Keefe, Manager of Roads and Traffic Maintenance, along
with their staff. It is especially difficult for City staff
to perform their duties when the weather has been so
challenging.
Rink of Dreams is officially open!

The City’s newest attraction, the Rink

foot oval ice surface is a refrigerated outdoor skating
facility and will be one of the largest outdoor rinks in the
City of Ottawa. It will operate annually from November to
March and will serve as a community space during the spring
and summer months. The City will work closely with the
National Capital Commission (NCC) and other organizers to
complement the many festivals and events in the downtown
core.
The Rink of Dreams will be open seven
days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information
